“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the low of Christ” – Galatians 6:2
As a body of Christ, First Baptist Church NBC and its Benevolence Ministry want to exemplify Jesus by lovingly and compassionately sharing resources with others. We also strive to exercise discernment and good stewardship for those resources. In this spirit, we share the following guidelines for requesting financial assistance.
Eligibility
Applicants are awarded financial assistance based on need. Applicants are not granted financial assistance based on relationships between the applicant and church leaders or significant church contributors. FBC does not discriminate applicants based on race, color, national origin, age or disability. However, the church reserves the right to deny assistance based on biblical, moral, and ethical reasons.
FBC may provide short-term (emergency ) assistance and longer-term aid to ensure that applicants have the basic necessities such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, and medical assistance. These and other needs not listed will be subject to availability of resources and may also be subject to a needs assessment. The preferred method of providing assistance will be to pay the applicant’s needs directly to a business provider.
Limits
Due to the limited availability of resources, financial assistance will be subject to the following limits:
Confidentiality
FBC Benevolence Ministry will work diligently to protect the privacy of all applicants. Materials and discussions will only be shared with designated administrators. FBC Benevolence ministry will provide annual reports to the congregation and church leadership; however applicant names and needs will be treated with a high-level of confidentiality.
